How to download a GPX file

A GPX file is just a small text file with your route's coordinates — every major cycling, running, and hiking app can export one. Here's how to get a GPX file from the most popular routing apps so you can preview it in Google Street View with this extension.

How to export a GPX from Strava

For a route you built in Strava's Route Builder:

  1. Open the route at strava.com/routes.
  2. Click the route to open it, then click Export GPX in the right-hand panel.
  3. The .gpx file downloads straight to your computer.

For an activity you already recorded:

  1. Open the activity on strava.com (GPX export isn't available from the mobile app).
  2. Click the (more options) menu in the top right of the activity page.
  3. Select Export GPX.
How to export a GPX from Komoot
  1. Open the tour on komoot.com or in the Komoot app.
  2. Tap the (more) menu on the tour page.
  3. Tap Export as GPX.

Completed tours can be exported by anyone; exporting a planned route before you've ridden it may require a Komoot Premium plan.
